於1887 年為日本知名哲學家「井上圓了」所創立，當時稱為「私立哲學館」，至今已逾120 年，歷史悠久。並於1949 年轉型為現代新制大學。東洋大學是日本除了東京帝大以外，唯一的非宗教系學校。東洋大學的精神為：「各種學問的基礎皆建立於哲學之上」，東洋大學自二次世界大戰以來，一直以哲學思想為主體，持續擴展學校規模，音而在日本哲學研究界佔有一席之地。而深厚哲學背景，使得東洋大學為時間金錢皆欠缺的學生著想，為其設立學習環境，是日本唯一設有夜間部的市中心大學。東洋大學長久以來一直以三個關鍵詞為目標，分別為：「哲學教育」、「國際化」、「職業教育」，為實踐這三個目標，東洋大學不只規劃了每週集中授課四次的英語課程、海外留學計畫，還為幫助學生將來順利就業提供了職業訓練課程，甚至到日本企業實習，讓學生贏在起跑點。

Founded in 1949, Toyo University is the only non-religious school in Japan except for Tokyo Imperial University. The spirit of Toyo University is “the foundation of all kinds of learning is based on philosophy”. Toyo University has long been aiming at three key words: “philosophy education”, “internationalization” and “Vocational Education”. In order to practice these three goals, Toyo University has not only planned four English classes a week and the overseas study program also provide vocational training courses to help students find jobs in the future, and even practice in Japanese enterprises, so that students can enhance their ability.

單學期交換計畫 (僅修讀學分)
