College of Law | Taipei Campus

⚖️ College of Law | Cross-Disciplinary Integration, Cultivating the Next Generation of Global Legal Talent

Located on the highly accessible Taipei Campus, the College of Law at Shih Chien University is our newest and most forward-looking college (the Department of Law began enrolling students in the 2023 academic year, and the College of Law was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in 2024).

Breaking the traditional framework of legal education, we highly emphasize "Cross-Disciplinary Integration" and "Internationalization." This makes it the perfect fit for international talent looking to flexibly apply legal knowledge across diverse industries, such as the tech sector and the fashion world!

💡 College Highlights & Professional Features

🧩 Unique "Interdisciplinary Credit Programs"

The College of Law perfectly integrates USC's top-tier advantages in design, human ecology, and information technology to establish three highly distinctive interdisciplinary credit programs. Upon completion, international students will be awarded a certificate, significantly boosting their competitiveness in the global job market:

  • 👗 Creative Fashion and Law Program: Combining USC's renowned design resources, this program explores fashion branding, copyright, trademark, and patent law.

  • 🤖 Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Law Program: Explores cutting-edge tech issues such as an introduction to AI applications, information and law, and big data applications.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family and Law Program: Covers psychology, the aging society and law, and the human rights of children and adolescents.

🌍 International Student-Friendly Language & Exchange Resources

  • 🗣️ English-Taught Courses (EMI) & Professional Foreign Languages: To enhance a global perspective, the college offers English-taught courses such as "Introduction to Anglo-American Law" and "Legal English." It also provides diverse language electives like "Legal Japanese" and "Legal German," which is a great boon for international students with multilingual advantages.

  • ✈️ Abundant Overseas Exchange Opportunities: We offer various international exchange channels, including sister-school student exchanges, dual-degree programs, and the UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific) program, allowing students to continuously expand their global networks.

🛠️ Flexible Credits & "Learning by Doing" Practical Training

  • High Flexibility in Course Selection: We have deliberately reduced the number of required credits. Out of the 128 credits required for graduation, up to 24 credits are reserved for general electives, allowing students to freely take courses in other departments or pursue a minor.

  • Case Studies & Internships: Our curriculum emphasizes "Problem-Based Learning (PBL)" and offers numerous case study courses (e.g., Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law). We also stipulate that students can undertake a 6-week (240-hour) full-time legal internship during the summer, ensuring theories are perfectly applied to the real world.

💼 Broad Global Career Development

After graduation, international students can choose to pursue further studies in Taiwan or their home country. Alternatively, they can dive into diverse industries, working as corporate legal counsel for multinational tech companies and international fashion brands, or engaging in judicial social work. The career possibilities are endlessly broad.
