Student Dormitories | Secure Housing Options for International Students

🏠 Tailored Housing for International Students

At Shih Chien University (USC), we understand that finding the right place to live is a key factor in a student's successful adaptation to life abroad. Therefore, we provide on-campus dormitories as the primary housing option while also assisting students in navigating the off-campus rental market. Whether you prefer to live on campus initially or move off-campus once you are more familiar with the environment, USC provides clear guidance and support for every step of your journey.

🛏 Dormitory Environment & Facilities

Our dormitories are particularly suitable for international students arriving in Taiwan for the first time.

  • Essential Amenities: Each room is equipped with beds, desks, storage space, and communal living areas to meet your daily needs.

  • Safety & Management: We prioritize a secure environment with management staff on-site to reduce the anxiety of adapting to a new country.

🌏 Off-Campus Housing | More Space & Flexibility

As students become more comfortable with life in Taiwan, some may choose to rent off-campus for more independence and lifestyle choices. Taiwan has a mature rental market offering everything from studio apartments to shared flats. When looking for off-campus housing, we highly recommend prioritizing proximity to MRT stations, as the MRT is the most convenient transportation system in Taiwan.

🌐 Rental Website Resources

  • 591 Housing Rental: The most popular platform in Taiwan with extensive listings and map functions. You can use Google Chrome’s built-in translation to browse listings and check distances to MRT stations.

    • Size Measurement: In Taiwan, floor area is measured in "Ping" ($1\text{ Ping} \approx 3.305\text{ m}^2$).

    • Space Tip: "Ping" usually includes public spaces (stairs/elevators). For a realistic estimate of usable space, subtract about 20% to 30%.

  • Community Resources: Many students find housing through Facebook groups such as:

    • Chinese: "台北租屋、出租專屬社團"

    • English: My Room Abroad, Taipei Apartment Rental Network, or Rental Taiwan.

    • Advice: Always view the property in person and verify the contract details before signing!
